Lonnie Ray Buck

Lonnie Ray Buck, 61, died June 4, 2011 at his home in Greeley. He was born June 24, 1949 to Allen Dale and Evabelle Doris (Grant) Buck in McCook, Nebraska. Lonnie was raised in Greeley where he graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1968.

He received his Welding Degree from Aims Community College. He married Sylvia Moreno on December 22, 1972 in Greeley.

Lonnie was a member of the Boiler Makers Local 101 Union for over 20 years. He worked for various Power Plants and Oil Refineries throughout the United States and retired in 2001. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp, and served in the Vietnam War and trained in Scuba Diving.

Lonnie loved his family above all and was very loyal and kind to everyone he met and would give the shirt off his back. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Lonnie had many friends and his co-workers were like his family. He worked hard and played hard. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing. He also enjoyed reading and watching football and basketball. Lonnie also liked collecting lighters from his many travels.

Lonnie is survived by Sylvia Buck, of Greeley; daughters Monica Rossow (Chad) and Ina Wiedeman (Mitch); sons Jamie Buck (Dawn) and Zachary Buck (Bernadette) all of Greeley; mother Evabelle Buck of Omaha; sisters Barbara Jorgensen (Roger) and Carol Grant all of Omaha; brother Merle Buck (Susan) of Evans. He is also survived by his grandchildren Evan and Mikayla Buck, Jordan, Coen and Cade Rossow; Cedrik Resendez, Miranda Wiedeman, Nevaeh, Zayden and Ashlyn Buck; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Hillside Baptist Church, 2436 9th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80631. Interment will follow at Linn Grove Cemetery.
