Lucille Schommer of Greeley died Saturday February 25, 2012 at her home. She was born February 26, 1930 to James and Marie (Miller) Madden on the family farm near Prior Lake, Minnesota.
Lucille graduated from Shakopee High School in Shakopee, Minnesota. She then attended nursing school. While in college she worked as a waitress at the Minneapolis Country Club. She later worked for Armour Packing Company.
On September 8, 1951, Lucille married Edwin Schommer in St. Paul. After their marriage, they bought a home in Hopkins, Minnesota. In 1966 they moved to Greeley. Lucille was a waitress at Ye Old Greeley Village Inn, Greeley Country Club and The Ebony Room. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Lucille was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved taking care of her family and the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; two daughters, Dianne Kline (Steve) of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Connie Crouch (Pat) of Lincoln, Nebraska; five sons, Dan Schommer (Vicky), Dave Schommer (Jonnie), Mike Schommer (Rosie) all of Greeley, Tom Schommer (Carolyn) of Arvada, Colorado and Paul Schommer of Greeley; sisters Kathleen Shankey of Prior Lake, and Lori Schesso (Clarence) of Chaska, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Allan Paul Schommer; four sisters, Hazel, Ethel, Dorothy and Frieda; and three brothers, James, Norman and Leo.
Visitation 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Thursday followed by Recitation of the Rosary at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
