Marie Ortegon

Marie "Dora" Ortegon, 75, of Chandler, AZ, died Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Brookdale Nursing Home after a battle with cancer. Marie was born on October 12, 1945 in Mexico to Juanita and Jose Calderon. Juanita passed away during childbirth. Due to Jose taking care of the other 3 young children he and Juanita already had. Martina and Juan Rivera stepped in to adopt Marie immediately after her birth. Marie moved with Martina and Juan to the US when she was 10 years old. Marie married Uvaldo Ortegon, May 1959 in Greeley, CO and they had 4 wonderful children together before divorcing 25 years later. Marie lived most of her life in the Johnstownand El Paso, TX area before moving to Chandler, AZ 5 years ago. Marie worked several jobs in Colorado. One of her proudest jobs was being a dental assistant at Plan De Salud Clinics. Marie was an independent strong beautiful woman that loved to travel and spend time with family. She loved fashion especially hats and would dress to the 9s even just going to the store. Marie is survived by her ex-husband Uvaldo Ortegon of Johnstown, 1 son, Danny Ortegon (Darla) of Greeley, 2 daughters, Carol Cervantes (Seby) of Johnstown, Becky White (Jim) of Chandler, AZ. 2 sister, Concepcion Saenz of Greeley, Maria Gandara of EL Paso, TX, 1 bother Lorenzo Calderon(Esperanza) of Johnstown. 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded indeath by a daughter Rosalie Velasco, Parents Juanita & Jose Calderon, Martina & Juan Rivera, 2 bothers Luis Rivera, Ignacio "Nacho" Rivera, 1 sister, Theresa Holguin. A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 1, 2021 at 11:00am at the Johnstown Cemetery.
