Marvin Earl Ferry, 85, of Byers, died December 17, 2010 at Aurora South Medical Center. He was born November 25, 1925 in Amsterdam, Missouri to Clinton and Alma (Sundquist) Ferry.
Marvin was raised and educated in Amsterdam, and graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1944. After graduating, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for Pratt and Whitney Airplane Assembly Plant. In 1947, Marvin went to work for TWA until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served from 1952 – 1954. After his discharge, he returned to work for TWA.
Marvin married Ruby Henry Applegate on August 17, 1956 in Hickman Mills, Missouri. Marvin and Ruby moved to Byers, Colorado in 1975. He enjoyed gardening and reading. He was a member of American Legion Post #160 in Byers, Colorado and the Senior Citizens Group of Strasburg, Colorado.
Marvin is survived by his step-daughter Linda Allen of Maryville, Missouri, sons Thomas Ferry of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Gerald Ferry of Byers, Colorado, sister-in-law Betty Ferry of Raytown, Missouri, granddaughters Wendi and husband Russel Earl of Barnard, Missouri, Kristi Allen of Maryville, Missouri, Great grandchildren Alec, Allison, and Abigail Earl, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, 2 sisters Mabel Niederkofler and Ruth Halcomb Baker and 1 brother Harold Ferry.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Hoyt Community Center, Hoyt, Colorado. Interment will follow in Hoyt Cemetery.
