

Pearl was born September 17, 1921, to Jesper and Nora Jones at Hayes Center, Nebraska. Her family moved to the Briggsdale, Colorado area in 1935 where she graduated from Briggsdale High School in 1939. She was active in sports and 4-H.
On November 14, 1942, she married Charles O. Burmood. They lived in or near Kersey, Colorado, for most of their 47 years of marriage. Charles worked for the Colorado State Highway Department until his retirement in 1972. Pearl worked for twenty-two years as Nutrition Educator and Cafeteria Manager for the Kersey Elementary School. They were both active members of the Kersey Community Church.
Charles passed away on October 7, 1990.
Pearl found love again with Jim Eckhardt, and they were married on August 11, 2001. Jim passed away on March 11, 2014.
Survivors include her children, Gloria and Bob Tacker of Socorro, New Mexico, and Richard Burmood of Chesapeake, Virginia; as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jewel Tomanek of Cheyenne, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Orville and Charles Jones, and sisters Opal Williams and Ruby Scott.
A Memorial Service was held for her Socorro, New Mexico church family and friends on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Kersey Community Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
