Richard Lee Hoff

Richard Lee Hoff, 74, of Greeley Colorado passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at his home. He was born September 22, 1949 to George and Edith Hoff. He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1967.

On August 1, 1968 he enlisted in the Army and trained as a Lineman for seven weeks at Fort Lewis, WA. Next, he was stationed in Germany, where his assignment was working with the Military Police. He was promoted to Sargent and sent to Vietnam. Then on March 30, 1971 he was granted an Honorable discharge from the Army.

Richard loved to collect Ducks Unlimited Memorabilia as well as his three feisty yellow Labrador puppies. They have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was very humbled when his father left him a few John Deere Tractors. Richard would buy one or two to add to the collections every time he got his allowance. Richard also loved to work on old cars. He worked on them until the new cars were too complicated to work on. Richard was also an awesome chef who loved to try new recipes to share with his friends and family. He was also a fan of photography; he began this while enlisted in the service. He and his brother would go out and get some pictures of the “BIG BOY” steam engine when it came through Greeley on its way to Cheyenne Frontier Days. Richard loved working on his flowers. When the weather got nice he would say, “How many and what kind of flowers should we get this year?” He looked forward to picking out the flowers, planting them and nurturing them to grow. At one time, he had 87 Rose bushes, but then decided he would rather have different kinds of flowers. Richard took care of his garden until his health limited him.

Richard was an Optician for 30 years. He retired in May of 2010. On March 17, 2010, he married his High School sweetheart, Jane M. Campbell. In December 2013, Jane retired from State Farm and became his caregiver until his passing.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Hoff, older sister, JoAnn Leinweber, brother-in-law, Richard Leinweber, and sister-in-law, Nola Hoff.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jane; brother, Gerald Hoff; niece, Wendy (Gregg) Boughton and their daughters, of Oregon; nephew, Mark Hoff, of Greeley. Niece, Debbie Leinweber, her children Kadie and Tyler Randall and family, and niece Cherise (Matt) Twitchell and sons.

A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
