
Richard was born on March 29, 1936, in Windsor, Colorado, to Carl and Amalia (Brunner) Schaefer. He graduated from Windsor High School and went on to attend the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
Throughout his life, Richard lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Boulder, Pueblo, Fort Collins, and Greeley, Colorado. He built a long career in sales, working in banking, later owning his own insurance company, and eventually selling cars. He was driven, independent, and known for his determination and strong work ethic.
Richard was involved in Rotary and appreciated being part of the local business community. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports fan, faithfully following the Denver Broncos and the CU Buffs. Sports were a steady interest throughout his life and something he genuinely enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Cheryl, his son, Richard Russell Schaefer, and his sisters.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Gail White, his granddaughters, Felicia White and Bianca White, his great-grandson, Kyler Perrault, and numerous nieces and nephews.
An inurnment for Richard and Cheryl will take place at a later date at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, where they will be laid to rest with their beloved son.
