

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and Estes Park resident Bob Gallagher passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2017… he was 83 years old. Robert William Gallagher was born October 14, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to parents, Leslie and Evelyn Wallace Gallagher. Bob joined the United States Navy after High School, serving our country during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956 as a Metalsmith on a Destroyer Escort Vessel. On June 19, 1954 he married Margaret Ruth Plag in Berlin, NJ who were then married for 62 years before his passing. Bob was an Iron Worker by trade and was a member of the Philadelphia Iron Workers Union for 35 years. He worked on commercial projects up and down the east coast, including the 1964/65 New York World’s Fair, and the renovations of the iconic and historic Market Street Retail District and Center City projects in Philadelphia, PA. After retirement, in 1989, the family moved from Lindenwold, NJ to Estes Park, CO. Here in Estes Park Bob was active in the Lions Club and at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, as a Charter Member and serving on the Building Committee. Bob enjoyed many activities including house boat vacations to Lake Powell with his good friends, as well as skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, walking his dogs and travel both at home and abroad with family and friends. Bob was a skilled carpenter and had built the family home in New Jersey before tackling many new projects once moving to Estes Park. He is survived immediately by his wife Marge of Estes Park; daughter Dr. Kathleen Reims, and her husband Dr. Randolph Reims, of Lafayette; sons Bob, Jr. and Christian, both of Estes Park; and grandchildren Kevin & Colin Reims of Lafayette, Shayna Gallagher of Longmont and Connor Gallagher of Estes Park. Bob is also survived by a brother, Leslie Gallagher of Pine Hill, NJ and sister Arlene Killmer of Clayton, NJ. He was pre-deceased by brothers George and Raymond Gallagher; and sister Betty Edwards, all of New Jersey. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, located at 2000 Ptarmigan Trail in Estes Park.
