Better known as Bob, he was born June 25, 1947, in Braymer, Mo., the son of Robert Peter Sheue and Dorothy Taylor Sheue.
He attended public schools in Kansas City, Ks. and Sedalia, Mo., graduating in 1965. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1969 with a degree in journalism and obtained a lifetime certificate to teach English and journalism from then Central Missouri State University in 1974. He was a guest lecturer in advanced editing for several semesters at the University of Colorado.
Bob worked at newspapers in Sedalia, Mo., Colorado Springs, Co., Boulder Co. and Denver during his 38 year career. For the bulk of that career he held a variety of editorial and administrative positions at both the Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post, serving as news editor at both newspapers. He won several awards for writing and page design during his career. He retired from fulltime newspaper work at The Denver Post in 2001 as travel editor, a position that afforded him the opportunity to visit Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean and South America.
Bob remained ardently interested in current events and politics throughout his life.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, photography, writing and skiing. Bob served as a docent at the Denver Zoo for several years including being Santa. He tackled several remodeling projects but remodeling the family cabin in Rocky Mountain National Park and adding an impressive deck to it gave him great satisfaction. He opened the cabin as early in the spring as weather allowed and closed it as late in fall as was possible. Bob loved to hike in the mountains for their beauty and majesty as well as for the peace and solitude they afforded.
He was married twice, divorced twice and did not have children. He moved from Golden Co. to Loveland, Co. in 2012. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle who would do anything for anyone in the family. It would be remiss not to note his love for the entire Norman and Irene Morin family who included him as family.
Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Jennings, Topeka, Ks,; nephew, Todd Peter Broom (Holli) , Chesapeake, Va.; grand-niece, Mackenzie Ellen Broom and grand-nephew, Tanner Seth Broom, both of Chesapeake, Va.; and cousins Betty Bissell, Excelsior Springs, Mo. and James E. Taylor, St. Louis, Mo. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Martha Ellen Broom; nephew, Troy Keith Broom and brother –in-law, Douglas Charles Jennings.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at 2:00pm at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3448 North Taft Ave. in Loveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to a charity of choice. Go to www.allnutt.com to send condolences and sign the guestbook.
