Robert “Bob” D. Moses of Loveland went to be with the Lord at the age of 87 on January 20, 2018 after a brief illness. Born May 15, 1930 in Winner, SD to Carl and Emelia (Jares) Moses, he graduated in 1949 from Winner High School. Bob proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Jacqueline L. Chapman on January 5, 1957 in Winchester, MA and they were married just days shy of 52 happy years when she passed in late 2008. He was a devoted husband who took loving care of Jackie even as her health declined.
Bob wore many hats and had a variety of jobs during his early career, including cattle rancher, radio disc jockey, highway department surveyor, and salesman for Sears, Montgomery Wards and JC Penney. The day came when he was able to be his own boss resulting in Bob becoming a successful insurance agent with Farmers Insurance Group from 1971 until his retirement in 1999. After God and his wife, the most important thing to Bob was family. He mentored his two eldest children in the business, and they continue to work in the insurance industry.
Bob was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 1981, and he beat the odds and made a full recovery despite a poor prognosis, boldly declaring “I still have children to raise!” and showing cancer who was boss.
Bob was the family historian and story-teller and he was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. His sense of humor and quick wit endeared him to everyone he met. He was generous and undemanding, with the highest sense of integrity. He had a very quiet faith, holding his relationship with God as sacred and private. His intimacy with Jesus colored everything he did and was evident in every aspect of his life.
Bob is survived by his devoted children Rebecca “Becky” Moses-Suarez (Elliott), Rustin “Rus” (Valerie), John “Rob”, Jares, Julia Selders (Scott Williams) and Joseph (Tracy), as well as his brother William “Bill” (Evelynne) and sisters Bernice Weickum, Shirley (D.L.) Hart, Jeanetta “Boots” Moses and Kathryn “Kate” DiPaola; and sisters-in-laws Mary Moses and Beverly Moses, as well as his beloved grand and great grand children along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jacqueline, brothers Alfred “Pete”, Elmer ”Cook”, Donald “Eddie”, Earl; sister Dorothy “Dot” Cowan, brothers-in-laws Clare Cowan and Ralph Weickum and grandson Evan Moses.
Viewing will be at noon and Bob’s life will be celebrated at 1 pm on Saturday January 27th at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1445 W. 28th Street in Loveland. Interment will be Monday January 29th at 12:30 pm at Fort Logan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
