Roberto Bruno Reyes

Robert was known as “Uncle Bob” or “Penjamo” to many. He worked much of his young adult life as a migrant worker throughout Texas, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota. In 1972, he met Lorraine Carrillo and they settled in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. They were together many years and later separated. Lorraine passed away in 2012. He met Diane Haver in 1979 and they resided in Belle Fourche. Diane passed away in 2006. Robert moved to Colorado in 2014 to be near his daughter.

He worked for many years at Steen’s Feeds and later in maintenance at the local hospital. He loved fishing and working in the shop fixing anything from cars to lawnmowers. If it had a motor, he could fix it.

His greatest passion was country music and Tex Mex conjunto music and dancing. He was a talented musician and he could play the bass, drums, bajosexto and the accordion. The accordion was his favorite instrument to play and in his daughter Rose’s eye’s he was the best accordion player this side of Texas. He was an avid animal lover his dog “Chuco” and cat “Lita” brought him much joy. He enjoyed watching boxing with his brothers. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Robert is survived by his daughters Rose Chavez and husband Joaquin of Greeley, Evelyn Acosta and husband Rigo of Woodbury, Minnesota, Cecelia Garcia of Greeley and Nadine Renteria and husband Andres of Yankton, South Dakota; two sisters Elvira Hernandez of Owasso, Michigan and Eva Zavala of Alma, Michigan; two brothers Joe Flores and wife Lou and Simon Reyes all of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; one brother and 2 infant sons Richard and Rosendo.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1091 10th Avenue in Greeley. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Leverington Funeral Home, 715 National Street in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.
