Rodney Leon Poeschl, 71 of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1954, in West Point, Nebraska. He later moved to Fremont, Nebraska and eventually settled in Greeley, Colorado, where he spent the majority of his life raising his family and serving his community.
Rod was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who spent his career as an Inventory Control Manager for Animal Health International for over 40 years. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity and dedication to those he loved. He took great pride in organizing the church Thanksgiving dinner each year, a role he very much cherished.
He enjoyed traveling, attending his grandchildren’s activities, and weekly gatherings with their coffee friends. His commitment to bringing people together left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was known for his love of cooking, his diehard fandom of the Cornhuskers and most of all being there for his friends and family. Rod valued connections, generosity and togetherness and he made everyone around him feel welcomed and cared for.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Laurie; his daughters, Lindsey Benson and Nicole (Junior) Barrios; his five grandchildren Wyatt, McKenna, Tyler, Braden and Brynn. His brothers; Rick (Jackie) Poeschl and Randy (Cindy) Poeschl; and many extended family members. His legacy lives on through his family, friends and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Virgina Poeschl, and father in law Bill Gaughen.
A celebration of life will be held on December 30th at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Greeley. Followed by a reception at the Greeley Stampede Office. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Banner Health Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, a place near and dear to this heart.
