91, of Greeley

Rose Mary Stevens, 91, of Greeley passed away April 25, 2014 at NCMC, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 3, 1923 in Martinsville, Indiana to Glenn and Mary (Eggers) Stout.

She graduated from Martinsville High School in 1941. Rose Mary married Donald W. Flaugher in 1942 and they moved to Colorado in 1946. They later divorced and she married William R. Stevens in 1978 in Greeley. He died on January 4, 1980.

Rose Mary worked for a Defense Contractor during World War II, farmed with her husband in the Greeley area and later worked as a secretary for a number of companies in Greeley. She volunteered at Bonell, was a Cub Scout leader while her sons were young and volunteered with her children’s activities. She was very active on the computer with email and Facebook, wintered in Florida, taught herself to play the organ, enjoyed RV’ing, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, music, crocheting caps for newborns and lap robes for the elderly, but the most important thing was her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughters; Mary H. (Gary) Schwartz of Briggsdale, Nancy A. Sigg of Greeley, sons; William “Bill” D. (Janet) Flaugher of Greeley, John C. Flaugher of Bellvue, and James R. (Judi) Flaugher of Hay Springs, NE, grandchildren; Tim and Kevin Schwartz, Anna Schaben, Andrea Vitullo, Cheryl and Chad Flaugher, step-grandchildren; Charles Luna, Amy Dighans and Chad Yoder, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including a step-nephew, Don (Ann) Briscoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 4 sisters; Leafy Ames, Nancy and Laurie Dunigan and Kathryn Johnson.

Private interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens with service to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A reception will follow in the Allnutt Reception Center.
