Rose Tateyama

Rose “Ro” Tateyama passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 87. Ro was born to Mitazo and Kiju Hayashida in Blanca, Colorado. After finishing school in Blanca, Ro moved to Denver and worked at a drugstore where she met Harold Tateyama. Ro and Harold were soon married and moved to Ault, Colorado where they helped Harold’s family on their farm. After a few years of helping on the farm, Harold and Ro started a farm of their own; here they endured the life of farming. They grew sugar beets and onions along with several other crops for nearly 50 years. Along with the farm, Ro also spent a lot of time cooking for everyone. She would often take homemade meals out for the sugar beet and onion harvest crews, as well as putting together elaborate feasts for the entire family.

Ro’s grandchildren were her heart and joy. She and Harold followed their grandchildren throughout their sports careers and other life events. They attended a countless number of sporting events as well as school plays and recitals. Ro remained a huge part of their lives as they got older as she was able to enjoy their graduations, weddings, and her great grandson. She also enjoyed lifelong friends, as well as the friends that she made at the Ault Senior Center.

She will be sadly missed by us all.

Ro is survived by her sons Daryle (Jane) Tateyama and Edwin (Cookie) Tateyama; granddaughter, Kelsey (Stephen) Sahli; three grandsons Tanner Tateyama, Tyler (Tasha) Tateyama, and Trey (Jordan) Tateyama; and one great grandson, Calvin Tateyama. Ro is preceded in death by her husband Harold; two brothers Henry and Fred; and four sisters Dixie, Agnes, Ina and Blanche.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with a reception to follow in the Allnutt Reception Center.
