Rowena J. Mckinney

July 1, 1947 to June 18, 2011

Rowena June McKinney, age 63, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on June 18, 2011. She was born July 1, 1947 to Wayne D. and Miriam R. Hibbs in Denver, Colorado.

Mrs. McKinney was raised on her family’s farm in rural Keenesburg and Platteville. After graduating from Valley High School in 1965, she began her long career with State Farm Insurance Company in Evans, Colorado, and retired after 36 years of dedicated service.

She married Richard L. McKinney on May 18, 1974 and they celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in May of this year.

Mrs. McKinney was a huge fan of the Denver Bronco’s and loved watching their games. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and ceramics. She loved spending time with family and vacationing in Las Vegas. She especially enjoyed the company of the family cat “Herbie”.

Mrs. McKinney is survived by her husband Richard McKinney; daughter Candice McKinney and husband Justin Lewallen of Evans, Colorado; son Jeff McKinney and wife Angie of Gilbert, Arizona; granddaughters Brittany and Kaleigh McKinney of Gilbert, Arizona; mother Miriam Hibbs of Platteville, Colorado; sisters Janet (Samuel) McKinney and Cathy McLaughlin and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne D. Hibbs.

Memorial service 10 a.m. Saturday at Stoddard Funeral Home.
