Ruth Trainor

Ruth Winifred Trainor, 95, long-time resident of Broward Co., died, Feb. 16, 2012 at Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. She was born in Sparkill, NY on Nov. 26, 1916 to Matthew A. and Ellen T. Boyan. Ruth graduated from Tappan Zee High School at age 15. She was married to Thomas J. Trainor in 1935; they later divorced.

Ruth combined her early vocational and nursing training in a long-time career as an administrative/executive secretary in medical and hospital settings in Elmira, NY and in the Greater-Cleveland area. In 1970, she continued her secretarial career with the Ryder Corporation in Miami. Following her second retirement, Ruth enjoyed her family, friendships, and part-time employment in Broward Co. up to age 90. Since 2007, she has resided at Bonell Retirement Community in Greeley, CO.

She was preceded in death by her son Gale E. and sister Marion L Britton; she is survived by sons Thomas J. of Eatonton, GA; Wayne M. of Greeley, CO; and G. John of Savannah, GA; 12 Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grandchildren. A memorial observance will be held in Savannah, GA at a future date.
