God has blessed us with a loving, hard working, God fearing Mom and friend for over 92 years. Sadie Mae Purvis Schraeder went to rest in Jesus on April 11, 2026. We are prayerfully awaiting the day we all will meet again.
Sadie Mae was born on September 8, 1933 to Frank and Mary Purvis on a farm in Galeton, Colorado. Her family moved into Galeton when she was six months old and she grew up there. Sadie attended school in Galeton all twelve years graduating from Galeton High School in 1951. She met the love of her life on a blind date, Kenneth Schraeder and the rest was history. Ken and Sadie were married November 4, 1951 in the naval chapel on base by the naval Chaplain in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as Ken was stationed there. Sadie had sailors for bridesmaids. Deborah Ann was born in the naval hospital there in 1953. They moved back to Windsor area to farm and had five boys, Don and Doug (twins), Kenneth Dean, Duane and Darrel. Sadie was a farm wife who did everything a farm wife does, driving trucks and tractors, irrigating starting tubes and shoveling leads, taking care of farm animals and of course cooking and caring for a family of eight. Farm life was rough but a good life. 1971 brought changes for the farm, being hailed out too many times so Sadie and Ken and family moved in to Windsor in 1973. Ken went to work for Weld County and Sadie for Windsor School District as a cook. Students and teachers as well all enjoyed Sadie's cooking and many still told her that to this day. Sadie and Ken enjoyed camping and fishing with family in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and upon retirement they enjoyed traveling. Sadie loved her family and her Lord. She was a member of Windsor Elm Haven SDA and a past and long time member of Windsor Evangelical Free Church. She was very active at the Free Church in the Women's Ministries and helped with the AWANA program and MOPS. She spent her last years living with her daughter Debbie. They enjoyed traveling together and Sadie loved taking cruises to places she had only dreamed about.
They enjoyed playing her favorite games together and she especially enjoyed when family and friends came and joined in. She really enjoyed the fact that she usually won most of the time.
Sadie is survived by daughter Debbie Schraeder, three sons, Don and wife Cindy of Brighton, Ken and wife Kathy of Greeley (Bracewell), and Darrel of Evans.
