Shirley Larain Miller

She was born in Greeley on July 29th, 1931. Shirley, daughter of the late Dave and Mary Kerns was raised on a farm east of Barnesville, CO. Shirley graduated from Gill High School. After graduation, she attended business college and went to work for Bartels & Noe Agency in Greeley.

On August 18, 1951, she married the love of her life, Jacob Miller Jr, while he was home on leave from the Navy. They lived in Norfolk, VA for the duration of his duty. Upon their return in 1953, they farmed in the Ft. Lupton area until 1958. They then moved east of Gill, where they purchased their farm in 1969, and continued to farm until their retirement in 2006 and moved to Greeley. As a farm wife, she worked side by side with Jacob while raising three children. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She was a woman of strong faith, a lifelong member of St. Paul's Congregational Church. She was involved with ladies' aid and yearly noodle making. Her love for Jesus was shown through her every day and she made sure her children knew Jesus and shared in His love.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jacob, sister Marian, and brother Leroy.

She is survived by her three children, Jake (Vicki) Miller of Greeley, John (Bobbi Sue) Miller of Gill, Sheryl (Patrick) Maroney of Platteville. Grandchildren, Jennifer (Tyler) Greenly of Eaton, Scott (Melissa) Miller of Greeley, Amy (Kurt) Solomon of Severance, Steven (Savannah) Weigandt of Greeley, Seth (Kelsie) Weigandt of Windsor, Stephanie (Levi) Graham of Evans, Skyla (Colton) Moore of Ault and Jade Miller of Gill, 11 great grandchildren and God daughters, Jackie Robinson, Debbie Reinick, many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friend, Barbara Durmas.

She will be deeply missed by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St Paul's Congregational Church, located at 1525 43rd Ave, Greeley, CO, 80634. The service is scheduled for February 23, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.
