

Shirley Ann Silva, 69, of Greeley died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at her home. Shirley was born on October 29, 1942 at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colorado to Murrel Lawrence and Mary Virginia (Blackston) Hiatt.
Shirley grew up in Weston, Missouri on a dairy farm. She attended Grand Junior High, South High School and Parks Business School. She was a professional cake decorator, working at Toddy’s and Safeway.
On May 20, 1962 she married David Silva in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was saved in the “Church of God” and later attended Harvest Time Tabernacle. She attended Evangelical Free Church in Eaton. She was an active member of “the Shirley Club”.
Shirley was a very articulate person, everything had to be perfect. She was a wonderful cook. She loved to have people over for dinner. She had a contagious smile and never met a stranger. She had a way of touching everyone she met. Shirley’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved spending time with them, showing them the “Diamonds in the snow”, Ma’s moon. She had an individual relationship with each one and she was so excited about her great-grandkids.
Shirley is survived by her husband, David Silva of Greeley; a daughter, Elisa Ann Kunkel and husband, John (Dan) of Greeley; her mother, Mary Virginia Clymens of Lakewood; four sisters, Barbara Gonsalves of California; Linda Martin and husband, Michael of Broomfield, Mary Tabar of Thornton and Karen Bendt and husband Jack of Denver; two brothers, Michael Hiatt and wife, Hedy and Richard Hiatt all of Denver; grandchildren, Makaelynn Rae, Steven Wayne (Kyrsten) , Lacee Leigh Anne (Keith) Pinkstaff and Jill Sheridan DuVall; Felicia Rose (Michael Romey) and Chad Joshua Kler and great-grandchildren, Zayden Marshall DuVall, Ryland Keith Pinkstaff and Mackenzy Rose Romey.
Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Merrie Sue Kler, brother, Ray Hiatt and her father, Murrell Lawrence Hiatt.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 Cherry Avenue. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shirley Ann Silva Memorial Fund, which will be used to benefit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in care of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
