

Vern Eugene Klingenberg, 84, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Kenton Manor in Greeley on July 11, 2013. Vern was born on June 19, 1929 to Elmer and Viola Klingenberg of Cornish. He attended a rural one room school house and completed High School in Greeley.
In 1952 he married Betty Higginson of Castle Rock and from this marriage was born 4 children. Vern served overseas in the Korean Conflict and owned several businesses over the years. He was also a musician/songwriter and played in several bands locally for 30 years and recorded a record in Nashville under the name Vern Gamlin. In 1968 he married Mona Kovach of Nunn, CO and in 1976 after the death of his father; he and Mona moved to the family farm east of Briggsdale and farmed for the next 20 years. Vern was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge 909 in Evans.
He is survived by his children Randy Klingenberg and Gay Klingenberg of Durango, CO, Joy Klingenberg of Clarkdale, AZ, and Ann Spencer of Rimrock AZ Grandchildren Sonia Miller and Dustin Klingenberg of Greeley, Kyle Spencer of Tucson, AZ, Amber Spencer of Cottonwood, AZ, Jeremy Jameson of Durango, CO, Brook Klitzke of La Plata, NM, and Shay Tucker of Phoenix, AZ, 11 Great grandchildren, a brother and sister; Robert Klingenberg of California and Charolette Hamlet of Idaho. He was preceded by a sister, Irene Storer.
There will be cremation and services will be held at a later date.
