Vernon Dale Kremer was born on September 7, 1927 in Cheyenne Wyoming. His father died when he was a young boy and he worked hard ever since, helping his mother raise a rather large group of children. He grew up, joined the U.S. Navy, and served his country in WWII. While he was serving he was writing a string of letters to his future bride and forever love, Betty Lorraine Wiley. They married and shared 72 happy years with each other.
Together they shared the best love story there could ever be. He was a rancher, a cowboy, a mathematician, a mechanic, a handyman, a gardener, an artist, and had an abundance of other talents. He was an endless source of knowledge and compassion. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband and father to his six children and a Grandpa to many. They retired in rural Brighton and enjoyed their last days together watching sunsets, feeding the birds, taking rides on the golf cart, gardening, taking care of their foster squirrels and enjoying each other’s company, always holding hands or smiling at each other from across the room.
Vernon is survived by his sister Janette Gruwell; brother Alfred Dhooge; his children Bonnie Miller, Cheyenne; Dan Kremer, Eaton; Dale Kremer, San Diego; Marvin Kremer, Brighton; Debbie Teller, Bayfield; Linda Abernathy, Brighton; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Betty Kremer, father Joseph Kremer, mother Margaret (Kremer) Dhooge and step father Fritz Dhooge; siblings Robert Kremer, Richard Kremer, James Kremer, Patricia Cundall, Darlene McCracken, Dale Dhooge, Timothy Dhooge, Norma Jean Dhooge, Allen Dhooge, and Great Grandson Ethan Kremer.
He died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
You will always be with us Dad. You were our rock. You always will be. (Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and Great Great Grandpa)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SonFlower Ranch (sonflowerranch.com), a neighboring Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. They were wonderful enough to let him foster the squirrels that brought him and Betty so much joy in their last years.
