Violet M. Meis of Greeley, became an angel in Heaven, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Centennial Health Care. She was born February 13, 1929 to Clarence Alvin and Sylvia May Huggans in Brush, Colorado. She grew up in Brush, and then moved to Denver. She worked at the Russell Stover Candy Company in Denver.
She moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas then to Pierce, Colorado where she married John A. Meis on May 8, 1976. They moved to Greeley in 1976.
Violet was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church in Greeley and enjoyed Bible studies. She read her Bible daily. She was also a member of Hill N Park Senior Center.
Family time was very important to her especially the time spent with grandkids. Violet enjoyed crocheting, knitting. She also enjoyed shopping, collecting ceramic angels and penguins and the color purple. Violet loved animals especially her dog “Penny”.
She is survived by her husband, John; son, Billy Alvin Nevill of Greeley; daughters, Linda Viertel (Ken) of Geneva, New York, Sherri Zuhlke (Mike) of Greeley, step daughter Beverly Barnes (Kevin) of El Cajon, California; mother, Sylvia May Huggans of Casper, Wyoming; sisters, Betty Lorraine O’Neal of Farmington, Arkansas, Mary Lou Tucker of Casper, Wyoming and Iris Jean Genz (Clarence) of West Fork, Arkansas she is also survived by 8 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence; 4 brothers, Alvin LeRoy Huggans, Clarence Reed Huggans, Don Lee Huggans, and Billy Ivan Huggans.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral Service 12 Noon Tuesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
