

Walter Leon “Poppy/Daisy” Coffman, 92 11/12th’s, of Apache Junction, AZ joined The Lord on Oct. 4, 2010. He was born in Eaton, CO, Nov. 1, 1917 to Walter S. Coffman & Nancy “Nannie” Susan (Gibson). Walter was #2 of 5 children.
He proudly served in the Army Air Corps and was in the W. W. II Pacific Theatre, 5th Air Force, a B-24 Armored Gunner. He also served 4 years in the Navy Reserve. He served our country proudly.
Walter was with the Greeley, CO Fire Department for 24 years and retired as Asst. Fire Chief. He was 63 year member of Occidental Lodge #20 AF & AM of Greeley, CO, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 909 of Greeley. He worked in auto parts sales for 15 years and then permanently retired.
Walter is survived by 2 daughters: Betty & Dianne, 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 18 great, great, grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ardyce, his parents and siblings, 1 son-in-law and I grandson. He was a member of Community Christian Church of Apache Junction. He was active in the Veterans Association of Dolce Vita and very loved and respected by all who knew him. He was the greatest, Poppy, G Pa, G-G Pa, whom loved his hugs and kisses.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Oct. 12, 2010 at the Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley, CO. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th St. Greeley, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in Walter’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85016 or Community Christian Church of Apache Junction, AZ 85120.
