

Walter "Scott" Jones was born on October 14, 1919 in LaJunta CO. He graduated from LaJunta High School in 1938 & married Verna Irene Graybill December 28th, 1945 in Cheyenne WY. He worked for Stark Furniture Co in LaJunta until he moved his family to Greeley CO in 1960 to manage the Stark Furniture Store there. He later worked for Truit Furniture and Chlanda Furniture until he retired in 1985 at the age of 66.
Scott served on the board of the Mennonite Hospital in LaJunta and after moving to Greeley, was a Charter Member of the Greeley Mennonite Church which he helped to found in July of 1964. He served on the board of the Greeley Mennonite Church as well as the board for Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp in Divide CO.
Scott played on a LaJunta baseball team until the late 1940's and played tennis with his sons well into his 70's. He was an avid Rockies and Broncos fan. He also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps.
He is survived by Sharon "Sherry" Irene Harper of Loveland CO, Celesta Kay Jones Feely of Cave Creek AZ, Thomas "Tom" Scott Jones of Oklahoma City OK, Robert "Bob" Kent Jones of Silverthorne CO, 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceeded in death by Verna Jones, daughter Linda Sue Denham, and Grandsons Robert Scott Harper & Andrew Scott Denham.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Greeley Mennonite Church 402 11th St. in Greeley CO on Saturday July 16th at 10:30.
