William D. “Bill” Yates of Greeley died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home. He was born on
July 18, 1962 to William and Marilyn Kay (Bretz) Yates in Neligh, Nebraska. The family lived in Ainsworth and Seward, Nebraska. Bill was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Bill graduated from Seward High School and went on to DeVry Institute to study mechanics. He worked for Longmont Foods as a mechanic, J&M Machine as a machinist and Big R Manufacturing as a fabricator.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 ~ 1991. On September 23, 1995 he married Sharon Collister in Greeley. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and home projects, but mostly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; step-sons Adam Dougherty and Stacey Dougherty; parents William and Marilyn; brother Robert Yates; grandchildren Vanessa, Lizzie, Taylor and Kaylee Dougherty.
