William Stanley Nelson formerly of Ault, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. He was born on May 1, 1921 to William Arthur and Kathryn (Smith) Nelson in Greeley.
William attended school in Gooding, Idaho; Greeley, Milliken, Pierce and a one-room school house north of Purcell. He served in the Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Air Force from May 1942 to December 1948.
On October 28, 1962, William married Norma Miller Lloyd in Ault.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ault, Masonic Occidental Lodge No. 20 A.F.A.M., U.S. Merchant Marine Veterans of World War II Northern Colorado Chapter, the Swedish Heritage Society of Northern Colorado and a lifetime member of the NRA.
William worked for Burroughs Texaco in Ault for 18 years and Woodward Governor in Fort Collins for 22 years. He was a Scout Master of Troop 58 in Ault for the Boy Scouts of America for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Norma M. Nelson; daughter Tarita and husband James Propp of Greeley; son Gale and wife Angie Nelson of Greeley; sisters Joan Lynch and Kathleen Nelson; four grandchildren, Jaxon, James and Madilyn Nelson and Chandler Stolte; three step-grandchildren, Tyler, Aubrianna and Emmarie Propp. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie Wengert and Jane Nelson.
Visitation 10-11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Ault. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Ault. Interment 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
