Bobby Arnold Jones

He was born on May 9, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana to Elvis A. Jones and Opal Elizabeth Roedel Jones.

Mr. Jones served his country for 20 years in the US Navy and US Army. He served 30 years with the Indianapolis Police Department, retiring as Lead Detective of the Missing Persons Unit.

Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family camping, hiking and fishing. He served as a Scout Master of Troop 1 in Indianapolis and as Assistant Scout Master of Troop 42 in Roachdale.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School, and served as an elder and usher. .

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Joyce Jones; and two brothers, Louis F. Jones and John Woods.

Surviving are his children, Kathleen C. Jones of Roachdale, Cynthia L. Asher and husband Daniel of Roachdale, Elvis A. Jones, II of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Estella “Sally” Jones McKnight and Judy Jones Fields; a brother, Joe Pollard; grandchildren, Opal Landwer Islie and husband John, Nick Jones, Brandy Asher, Jonathan Jones, Jennifer Robertson and husband Kenny, Stephanie Lopez and husband Ricky, Nellie Asher, Lena – Teresa Jones and Maverick Jones, III.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 South Bloomington Street, Greencastle, with Pastor Alan Barber officiating. Interment with Honors will follow at Roachdale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the CHURCH and on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 10 A.M. until time of services at the church.
