
Born May 12, 1955, in Terre Haute the son of Virgil Albert and Wanda (Strassler) Cook. He was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School “Class of 1973”. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana State University.
Bruce was a teacher at Sacred Heart School in Clinton and Cloverdale Middle School. He served as the varsity girls basketball coach for Cloverdale and assistant girls coach at Greencastle High School and Greenfield Central High Schools. He also served as an assistant boys basketball coach for South Vermillion High School. Bruce loved to golf and worked for Clover Meadows Golf Course in Cloverdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Andrew Hamm and father-in-law William Earl.
Bruce is survived by his wife Jo Ellen (Earl) Cook; children Kelcy (Brittaney) Cook, Kevin (Chelsea) Cook, Kyla (Jason) Penrod, and Marli (Matt) Emenhiser; his adopted basketball son Bradley (Jerra) Key; sister Karen Cook, and grandchildren Logan, Colt, Jolee, Zoey, Jackson, Kane, Savanna, Lula, and Charlotte, loved ones Nicole and Duane Campbell; sister-in-law Vicki & Ken Kallner; brother-in-law Bill & Joan Earl; and nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bruce on Thursday, July 17th at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church 404 Judson Drive Greencastle, IN 46135.
