Charles S Shaner Jr.

Charles was born in Greencastle on July 10, 1935, the son of Charles Samuel and Elizabeth (Varvel) Shaner Sr., and was a graduate of Greencastle High School. He also completed four years of Vocational School.

Mr. Shaner proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 23, the National Knife Collectors Association, VanBibber Lake Lions Club, and attended Putnamville Baptist Church. He was employed for 32 years as a Machine Repairman with G. M. Truck and Bus in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his former wife, Wanda Shaner; two children, Connie Wallace, (husband-Randy), Helotes, Texas, and Charles Joseph Shaner, Port Charlotte, Florida; three grandchildren, Brittanie, Kati, and Sara; a great-grandson, Rohan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and David Shaner; and a sister, Joan Irwin.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
