Donald Cross

Born August 14, 1924 in Bridgeport, IL, he was the son of Chauncey and Molly Gertrude (Knott) Cross. He was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and had attended Indiana Business College. He married Opal Marie (Littrell) on December 24, 1947 and she survives.

Rev. Cross had been a minister for over 40 years, having founded, built, and served as pastor at the Missionary Free Christian Church in Indianapolis. He had also worked at Crown Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Indianapolis for over 28 years. After retirement he was called to serve as Pastor for the Quincy Baptist Church in Quincy, IN.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Marie Cross; a son, James A. (Linda) Cross; a daughter, Marsha K. (Dave) Meyer; five grandchildren, Meghan (Matt) Krueger, Andrew Cross, Sarah Cross, Corben Meyer, and Connor Meyer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Rev. Don Matthews officiating. Interment to follow at the Little Walnut Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM on Monday, August 11th until time of service at the funeral home.
