Elinor Lucille Buis

Elinor Lucille Buis, 88, of Greencastle, passed away at her residence with her family by her side onf Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. Elinor was born in Rockville on Jan. 9, 1931, the daughter of Elbert Gail and Frances Margritte (Thornton) Irwin She attended Greencastle Schools. Mrs. Buis worked in circulation for the Banner-Graphic, was a cashier at Thompson store and was a babysitter. She was a member of Long Branch Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Karen (Akins) Sheldon (husband Larry “Steve”), Cheryl (Akins) Robertson (husband Stephen), James Steven Akins (wife Anita), Arlie Mitchell and Misti, Ruth (Mitchell) Myers (husband Jon) and Tony Mitchell (wife Melissa); a sister, Dona Joan Pierce (husband Dale); a brother, Donnie Irwin (wife Wilma); 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 23 years, Linzie Buis; sisters Letha Cofer, Marjorie Wallace and Carolyn Flint; brothers Robert E. Irwin and infant Frances Gail Irwin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Blaydes officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
