Born November 19, 1933 in Greencastle the daughter of Jesse and Era (Bales) Martin. She attended Clinton Center schools.
Elsie had worked at DePauw and Franklin College in the cafeteria as a cook and baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Padgett; parents; sister Betty Jean Snodgrass; brothers Henry Lee, Otis Max, and Everett Louis Martin and a granddaughter Carrie Padgett.
Elsie is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hunter, Nina Berry and Dianna Brooks; a son Charles Padgett; grandchildren Jeremy Hunter, Charles Padgett Jr., Cindy (Padgett) Barngrover, Annie Padgett, Josh Padgett, Cherokee Bricker, and Austin Bricker; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Little Walnut Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service.
