Gary R. Deem

He was born on October 12, 1951 in Greencastle to Virgil R. Deem and Mary K. Phillips Deem.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Greencastle High School, and was a 1973 graduate of Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.

He had been employed with Con Agra in Rossville, IL and Fulfill Industries in Henning, IL.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Lois Smith; a half-sister, Barbara Connor; and several aunts and uncles.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Cynthia S. “Cindy” Deem; his father-in-law, Jim Smith; a sister-in-law, Sandra Mackintosh and husband James; two aunts, Virginia Phillips, and Dottie Phillips; three nieces, Jennifer Menchhofer and husband Chris, Michelle Mackintosh, and Debbie James and husband Bob; two nephews, Michael Mackintosh and fiancée Ginger, and James Helmuth; three great-nieces, Hannah, Abby, and Makenna; and five great-nephews, Garner, Zachary, Cole, Trevor and Christopher.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 1 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home.

Gary an avid fisherman, enjoyed fishing trips to Wisconsin. He also enjoyed genealogy and computers.
