Joann Koenig

Born August 16, 1934 in Wabash County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Carl R. and Helen (Stoffer) Alexander. She was a graduate of Manchester High School and St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School. She married Robert W. Koenig on August 29, 1955 and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2009.

Joann had been a homemaker; an O.R. Technician at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette; and worked as a phlebotomist at the Putnam County Hospital for over 35 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Ladies Guild; Putnam County Home Ec Club; former Jaycees; and Sorority.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Ellis and husband, Ron of Greencastle; a son, Tom E. Koenig of Florida; two granddaughters, Angela Moore and husband, David of Greencastle and Jessica Ferran and husband, Nick of Cloverdale; six great grandchildren, Kelsey, Sydney, Samuel, and Adelynn Moore, and Alison and Christian Ferran.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Watson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until time of service on Wednesday.
