John Russell Wharton

John Russell Wharton, 78, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Born August 28, 1945 in Terre Haute the son of Otis Walton and Flossie Ellen (Taylor) Wharton and was a student of West Vigo High School. John was a professional tool and die maker several years for Lobdell Emory, Greencastle and later for Toyota in Vincennes. He was a member of the UAW. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Charley Wharton; and his companion Nancy Huber. John is survived by his son Gary (Jennifer) Wharton; daughter Nicky Wharton and fiancée’ Brandon Moore; sisters Laura (Carl) Miller and Rose O’Neal; grandchildren Quentin, Jeremiah, Alexandra, Hadleigh, Jace, and Christain. Memorial services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
