Larry Ray Boswell

Larry Ray Boswell arrived at his heavenly home to meet his Savior on Friday, September 16, 2022 at age 81. Larry was born to John and Thelma Ruth (Williams) Boswell on December 14,1940, in Greencastle, Indiana. He attended Greencastle High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He initially met Sandy (Rains), the love of his life, at Mt. Hebron Community Church in Cloverdale in 1962. They met again at the Putnam County Fair that year. They dated for about 5 months, quickly fell in love, and were married on January 19, 1963. Larry accepted a call to the ministry and in 1968, he and Sandy began pastoring a church in West Middleton, IN. Afterwards they pastored Little Ridge Friends, Liberty Friends, and Amo Friends churches. He pastored for over 40 years. Meanwhile, he worked at Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Indiana. He always put his family first and loved spending time with them. He was a very sensitive, caring person. He also had a fantastic sense of humor and lived to make people laugh! He enjoyed painting and European travel. He also loved to host exchange students. He loved growing things...especially daylilies, herbs for teas, and apple trees! He loved anything apple – apples, apple cider, apple pie, apple fritters. He loved giving. He often bought things on sale just so he could give them away. He often combined those three loves and bought apple trees to give away and plant for other people. Sandy called him her Johnny Appleseed. He loved Old Time Radio broadcasts, postal history, antiques and anything else historical. He enjoyed reading about WWII. He had a weakness for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and couldn’t pass them up! Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him in any way he could. He leaves behind his loving family: his wife - Sandra “Sandy” (Rains) Boswell; children - Cynthia “Cyndi” (Dave) Marsh, Brian (Jen) Boswell, and son-in-law, Dave Watkins; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and siblings. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tina Watkins, his brother, Ernest Lee Boswell, his parents John Ernest Boswell and Thelma“Ruth” (Williams) Devitt, his stepmother Mary (Kersey) Koch, and his stepmother Rozella(Sweet) Boswell. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Danville Friends Church, 45 N County Road 200 E, Danville, Indiana. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and a memorial service will be at 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to Danville Friends Church.
