Born June 24, 1929 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Claude Ralph and Bonnie Myrtle (Paris) Johnson and was a graduate of Greencastle High School.
Laura had been a homemaker and a member of the New Life Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Larry Sims, Kathy Berry, Richard Sims, Beverly (Ron) Richardson, David Sims, James (Rhonda), and Brent Sims; sisters, Georgia (John) Best, Lucille Cox, and Rita Phillips; a brother, Ralph (Norma) Johnson; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Sims; her parents; and a granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Forest Hill Cemetery with interment to follow, Rev. Braden Etcheson officiating.
