She was born on January 27, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina. She had a natural ability to connect with people - making friends easily, listening closely, and offering kindness without expectation. Those who knew her felt seen and valued in her presence.
Family was central to her life. She was a devoted mother to her children and her love for them shaped everything she did. She found joy in simple, meaningful moments like seeking out sunsets and time spent with family and her many friends, and could find laughter in any situation. Caring for those around her was what truly brought her the most joy and was a constant in her life. Her warmth, patience, and empathy left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.
She graduated from Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, KY in 1976. She spent the majority of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom, and gladly accepted the role of “second mom” to many of her children’s friends. Some of her more recent years were spent working as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Greencastle where she thoroughly enjoyed waiting on her many customers.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer (Adam) Hayes, Jordan Bottom (Brooke Lewis) and Joel Bottom (Cody Eckert); her grandchildren: Ethan Hayes (Kierra Renner), Caeley Hayes, Kinsley Delk, Elliana Hayes and Wyatt Hayes; her father: Robert Mugge (Helen Dunn); her siblings: Bob (Meacia) Mugge, Mike (Debbie) Mugge and Tom Mugge; her niece: Kyndall Mugge; and many many friends that spanned her entire lifetime. She was preceded in death by her mother Diane Mugge.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 31 with visitation from 11am-1pm and the service at 1pm at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle, IN. Interment will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family genuinely requests you consider donating to the Hearing Loss Association of America - Indianapolis Chapter at www.hlaa-indianapolis.org to help further her goal of assisting others with life changing education, advocacy and equipment for those with hearing impairment. Her time at Wal-Mart was also marked by assisting others in knowledge about her hearing devices, leading others to make life-changing decisions for their hearing and following suit.
She will be remembered for her kindness, and the way she made people feel cared for no matter what. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the gift of her love remains with us always.
