

She was born on June 20, 1928 in Ashboro, Indiana to Basil James Nicoson and Esther Lee Bullerdick Nicoson.
She was a graduate of Ashboro High School. Opal attended Emmanuel Christian Church in Limedale and had been employed at Clabber Girl in Terre Haute; G. C. Murphy, J. C. Penny, IBM and DePauw University Union Building all in Greencastle. She had been very active in the ladies Golden Circle Club for several years.
She married Harold Sharp on September 7, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1977. Opal married Robert Shetler on August 4, 1984 and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Edna May Nicoson and Doris Evelyn Petrowski.
Survivors include her sister Nora Jean Randle, two sons Gerald Wayne (Carolyne) Sharp and Roger Leroy (Ursula) Sharp both of Greencastle, Nine grandchildren, Twenty-one Great Grandchildren, Several Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Boone Hutcheson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2 – 6 P.M. and on Monday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials in Opal’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
