Phillip Archer

Phillip was born in Greencastle on June 27, 1956, the son of Joseph and Mary (Smith) Archer, and was a 1974 graduate of Greencastle High School. He also attended Indiana State University.

Mr. Archer was a member of the Elks Club Lodge #1077. He worked in Management for Wal-Mart for 30 years. He enjoyed playing in adult basketball and softball leagues. He met his wife in a softball league. He was a big supporter of IU, the Pacers, and the Colts. He was an avid recumbent bicycle rider and enjoyed hacking up golf courses. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Connie Sue Archer; his daughter, Deana Lynn Hunter, (Steven); his son, Phillip Joseph Archer, (Cristina); seven siblings, Barbara McClain, (Tim), St. Petersburg, Florida, Mark Archer, (Sue), Greencastle, Edward Archer, Indianapolis, John Archer, (Margie), Danville; Susan Parker, Sarasota, Florida, Dolores “Dee Dee” Browne, (Bill), Sarasota, Florida, and Patricia Monnett, (Jen), Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren, Zachory Hunter, Tyler Long, (Makay), Joshua Hunter, and Maria Archer; a great granddaughter, Sylvia Long; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Teresa Rohl; and his brother-in-law Bill Rohl.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, and one hour prior to time of service on Friday.
