He was born on January 29, 1932 in Greencastle to Charles Henry Byrd and Iola Chloe Byrd.
Dean was a retired truck driver for Schwerman, and most recently had been employed at SKS Management Services, Inc. in Florida.
His parents, and a sister Christine Swartz preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Simicich-Byrd; six children, Rita Thomas of Center Point, Aaron Byrd and wife Marilyn of Terre Haute, Dena Pulliam of Greencastle, Charles Byrd and wife Sharon of Greencastle, Tresa Burnette of Greencastle, and Tonda Jannings and husband Shawn of Greencastle; a sister, Ann Shoemaker and husband Roy of Greencastle; a brother, Ron Byrd and wife Marilyn of Coatesville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10 A.M. at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating.
