Richard Leon Murphy

Richard Leon Murphy, 85, of Greencastle passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Richard was born in Greencastle on November 6, 1933, the son of Lawrence and Florence (Beams) Murphy, and attended Greencastle High School. Mr. Murphy worked for many years as a Mechanic with the Indiana Department of Transportation. He enjoyed coin collecting and feeding wildlife. Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Mendenhall, and Delores Page, both of Greencastle; a brother Harold Murphy, (wife-Judy), Greencastle; his former wife, Karen Murphy, and her daughter, Cathy; a step-grandson, Eric Rising; a step great-granddaughter, Savana Rising; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. At his request there will be no viewing or service. A cremation will take place at a later date.
