
He was born on September 7, 1930 in Owen County, Indiana, to Arthur M. Powell and Frances V. Walbring Powell.
Dick was a graduate of Cloverdale High School, and had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
He retired from IBM with 33 years of service. Dick was a member of Jordan Presbyterian Church, Clay Lodge No. 85, F. & A. M. in Bowling Green, VFW Post 1550 in Greencastle, and the American Legion Post 58 in Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Powell and a son-in-law, Richie Stout.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ellen Powell; children, Jodi Raisor and husband Gayle of Greencastle, Ginger Stout of Greencastle, and Greg Powell and wife Crystal of Lexington, KY; a sister, Faye Salyers of Jordan Village; four grandchildren, Kayln Powell of Lexington, KY, Ellie Powell of Lexington, KY, Mandy Wells and husband Kenny of Cloverdale and Aaron Diel and wife Tracy of Argentina; and four great-grandchildren, Makenna Wells, Keira Wells, Leyton Wells, and Emelia Wells.
Family and friends are invited to Graveside services with Military Honors on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 9 A.M. at Forest Hill Cemetery.
