

After graduating from New Market High School in 1958, Roger earned his electrical technology associate degree from Purdue-Indianapolis. After graduation, Roger dedicated 31 years to working as a line construction engineer at PSI/Duke Energy before enjoying retirement. Roger also served eight years in the National Guard. After retirement, Roger worked at the local True Value, Negotiations, Inc. and York Chevrolet Buick GMC.
In 2006, Roger was elected to the Putnam County Council, where he served his community. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #653, Greencastle Eastern Star, and Terre Haute Scottish Rite, reflecting his commitment to service and fraternal bonds. Roger was also a Hoosier Two Cylinder Club member, where he shared his passion for antique farm equipment. He enjoyed fishing and hunting small game, hobbies that brought him great joy throughout his life.
Roger is survived by his brother Allen Deck, Indianapolis, son Jeff Deck (Lisa), and his grandchildren, Baron Deck (Anna) and Keri Mauer (Andrew), as well as his great-grandchildren Otto, Clara, and Omer Deck and Addilyn and Averi Mauer, all of Greensburg, Indiana. Nephew Christian (Claire) Deck and great-niece Cecelia. He is also survived by Anita Miller of Greencastle, IN, J.D. (Hannah) Miller, and Kaleigh (Chris) Teaford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Daryl Deck.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Wells Spring Christian Church at 10 AM until the time of the funeral at 11 AM. Pastor Steve Blaydes, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.
