

Sheila McCullough, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Greencastle on August 2, 1951, the daughter of John and Louise Flint Brackney, who both preceded her in death.
Sheila graduated from Greencastle High School and attended Franklin College. In June of 1970, she married Gary McCullough. They were married for 54 years before Gary’s death in May of last year. She worked at the Putnam County Auditor’s office, and later worked as the bookkeeper for her family’s business, Brackney’s Western Store. Sheila was a member of First Baptist Church, Greencastle.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sheila was a wonderful cook and baker. She also enjoyed gardening and growing all kinds of flowers.
Survivors include three daughters: Lisa Gall (Eric), Kari Schimpf (Mike), and Meghan Tipton (Chris), five grandchildren: Noah and Allison Schimpf, Rachel and Nathan Gall, and Jonathon Mace. Sheila is also survived by three brothers: Steve Brackney (Linda), Darrell Brackney (Linda), and Keith Brackney (Shirley), as well as a brother and sister-in-law Dave and Peggy McCullough, along with several nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Siebert and Betty McCullough.
Services will be held Friday, March 6, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 with a celebration of life afterwards beginning at 1:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
