Albert Derwood Collier

GREENSBORO Mr. Albert Derwood Collier, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Collier was born July 31, 1931 in Linden, NC (Cumberland County) to the late Albert Lee Collier and Aggie Elizabeth Houston Collier.

Mr. Collier was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Corporal in the US Army. A longtime member of Aycock Fellowship Ministries, he enjoyed participating in numerous church activities. Mr. Collier was retired from Richardson-Vick, Inc. (currently Proctor & Gamble) and in his spare time, could often be found, tending his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four siblings; Melba Collier, James O. Collier, Thomas C. Collier and Morris G. Collier.

Mr. Collier is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Foncine Locklear Collier and their five children; Hardy D. Collier of Greensboro, Kevin R. Collier and wife, Eva of Liberty, NC, Donald G. Collier and Ronald L. Collier and wife, Kerri, all of Greensboro; and Leah Michelle Tyson and husband Wes of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by four siblings; Lois L. Andrews of GA, Mavis Grim of FL, Larry H. Collier and wife Lynn and Seavy W. Collier, all of Greensboro. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1PM, prior to the service. Funeral Services celebrating Mr. Collier's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Aycock Fellowship Ministries, 1036 S. Josephine Boyd Street, Greensboro, NC with Rev. Donnie Pickeral officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Westminster Gardens, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC.
