.Alfred Douglas Carlton passed away on January 9, 2016 and is now in heaven with our Lord. He was born on July 13, 1928 in Athens, GA, raised in Kentucky and North Charleston, SC. HE graduated from North Charleston High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was in the Aviation navy, and proud of his service. He retired from the Navy in 1969.
He continued to work for another 20 years for Pilot Freight Carrier of Kernersville, NC. He retired in Oak Ridge, NC. He was a member of Sedgefield Baptist Church. In 2008, he moved to Swansboro, NC where he became a member of First Baptist Church of Swansboro.
He was an avid sportsman and baseball fan. He played baseball in high school and played baseball and softball in the Navy.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Doris R. Carlton of the home; son, Barry Carlton and wife Kathy of Lansing, KS and daughter Sharon Cranford of Swansboro, NC; three grandchildren, Kelly Carlton, John Carlton and Andrew Carlton.
