Amanda Wales Post was born August 1, 1974 in Greensboro, NC and entered the Church Triumphant January 22, 2025. She graduated from Walter Hines Page High school and earned a degree magna cum laude from Methodist College in political science and criminal justice. She went to work for the NC Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer, finishing as the top member of her training class and achieving sharpshooter status.
Amanda embraced her neurodivergency, never missing the opportunity to help others understand and accept people as they are. She received a teaching certificate from UNC-G and taught special education at Ferndale Middle School for several years. Her final employment was as an Elite Customer Service Representative for United Healthcare, where she particularly enjoyed helping people understand and receive the benefits to which they were entitled.
Amanda’s greatest joy, besides her son Noah, was Carolina Hurricanes Hockey. She made many friends in the Ladies of the Hurricanes fan club, and her collection of memorabilia was proudly displayed in her home. Amanda was also a collector of all things sea turtles, and she supported them through their charitable organizations. Amanda was a life-long confirmed member of First Lutheran Church, where she was always eager to learn and particularly loved Pastor Marty’s teachings. She was never without a book or puzzle book, stealing whatever moments she could to read or play.
Amanda is survived by her son Noah Holden, her mother Connye Post, her father Daniel Post (Rosemary), her brothers Lucas Post (Rachel) and Seth Post (Cheryl), her best friend Raymond James, her step-sister, Tamara Hale and her niece, Sadie Post. She always passionately cared for her friends and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2:00pm at First Lutheran Church, 3600 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC.
