Mr. Angus "A.B." Brooks Botts Jr.

Greensboro- Mr. A.B. Botts Jr., 75, passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on February 6, 2014. A funeral service will be at 2 PM, Monday, February 10 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel with Reverend W.D. Botts officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

A.B. was born in Greensboro to the late A.B. and Blanche Hemphill Botts Sr. He was employed as a mail handler with the US Postal Service for 29 years. A.B. was a faithful and active member since 1987 of Faithway Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, optimism even in difficult times, a positive attitude and the importance of caring and being concerned for the welfare of others more than your own. He was a loving grandfather who enjoyed more than anything seeing the happiness in the faces of his grandchildren even if it meant everyone got into a little mischief. He looked forward to and planned all year the family reunion. Every Tuesday morning he could be found catching up with his friends of the “Old Coots Club” at the McDonalds on Pisgah Church Road. He was a hardworking man who realized the value of a dollar and the importance of having God and family to lean on.

He is survived by his sons, David (Lynn) Botts and Wayne (Kim) Botts both of Greensboro; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Haithcock Botts; a son and daughter; and four brothers.
