

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens.
Mrs. Pemberton was born June 6, 1913 in Robeson County to Lewis L. Pate and Maggie Odom Pate. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1938. She was also a member of the V. G. Sunday School Class, the Bethany Circle and the Joy Club. She trained as a R.N. in Fayetteville and used her training as a nurse to care for her family and friends her entire life. As our mother, she leaves a legacy of deep faith and love of family to guide our ways. She was a virtuous woman who was a gift of love to all of us. She loved to sew, read, and garden. Her meals were special treats to us all. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles W. Pemberton and their sons; Charles D. Pemberton and William T. Pemberton.
Mrs. Pemberton is survived by her daughters, Betty P. Whitaker and husband, Barry of Rolesville, JoAnne P. Lancaster and husband, Douglas of Bartlett, TN, sister, Frances McGeddie of Fayetteville, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday in the Blair Hagan Room of First Presbyterian Church.
